First Night Shoot 10/6/2015

The weather didn’t look good on the day and sure enough at 4:15pm it started raining. We set up the targets anyway, fired up the genny, plugged the new LED LIGHTBAR in and waited to see how many “stalwarts” would show up before making a final ‘On or Off” call.

To our surprise, 17 Shooters appeared out of nowhere – ‘Its On” was the call. Merv was fired up and had a vast array of prizes on offer. The light drizzle came and went every now and then, all the shooters took it in their stride and had a good time. The LED lightbar lit the 20 metre targets up like daylight and we shot from under the awning – which kept us dry.

The Wingham boys, Owen, Rod, Brad and Issiah made the trip up and shot well. Young Hudson and Jake (youth division) both shot well for their first time in these conditions. The new “3D Challenge” was won by Peter Jilg over Nick Petersen amidst some fine shooting. Owen Kirkman is leading the 3 night accumulative series with Rod, Heath and Nick not far off the pace.

This series is becoming more popular every year and with a free sausage sizzle, tea/coffee & biscuits, as well as the new 3D challenge and lucky door prizes – these nights have become the “must do” events on our calendar. The next one is scheduled for Wednesday 15th July starting at 6pm and finishing by 9pm, be there for a great night out – our chief scorer (Grant) has promised not to “sharpen his pencil”!! and take into account how difficult it can be shooting at night, as your bow might shoot very differently than it would of a daytime.
